As a Grief and Bereavement counselor, I have come to recognize that grief isn’t only about losing a loved one. When a major aspect of our lives ends, for whatever reason, there is a grieving process.
It could be the loss of a job or a relationship, a child leaving home, or even something more voluntary like retirement.
Being able to talk through the sometimes messy and confusing feelings and emotions with someone who can safely hold the process while we rediscover ourselves, can be immensely valuable.
Having access to an objective point of reference both enriches and honors the experience and eases the journey.
I am also an Art Therapy Practitioner because in some contexts of communication words just aren’t enough.
